Golden Oldies: Todo sobre mi Madre
All about my mother
A single mother in Madrid sees her only son die on his 17th birthday as he runs to seek an actress's autograph. She goes to Barcelona to find the lad's father, a transvestite named Lola who does not know he has a child. First she finds her friend, Agrado, also a transvestite; through him she meets Rosa, a young nun bound for El Salvador, and by happenstance, becomes the personal assistant of Huma Rojo, the actress her son admired. She helps Huma manage Nina, the co-star and Huma's lover, and she becomes Rosa's caretaker during a dicey pregnancy. With echoes of Lorca, All About Eve, and Streetcar Named Desire, the mothers (and fathers and actors) live out grief, love, and friendship.

Golden Oldies: Sexo Con Amor
Sex with love
Sexo con Amor (Sex With Love) is a 2003 Chilean comedy film about sex and relationships. A group of parents of fourth-grade students addresses how the school should deal with sex education. But sexuality is still an unresolved issue for many of the parents themselves. Sexo con Amor is the story of how three of these couples are ambushed by their own erotic passions. They each profess undying love to their partners while hopping enthusiastically on a merry-go-round of physical relations with one another, leading to sometimes tragic and sometimes hilarious effects.
The film was directed by Boris Quercia, who also wrote the screenplay and even played a role in the film.

Golden Oldies; Fidel
He fought for freedom. He settled for power.
Fidel Castro is one of the world's best known and most recognizable political leaders, but he is also among the most mysterious. Fidel is a documentary by filmmaker Estela Bravo, who combines vintage newsreel footage with exclusive recent interviews which offer an insight into both Castro the leader, struggling to face the political and economic realities of the post-Soviet global environment, and Castro the man, as he tours his childhood home, goes swimming, and visits with his friends.
